The Bureau of the Fiscal Service

OVERVIEW

Client:

The Bureau of the Fiscal Service (Fiscal Service) was established on October 7, 2012, with the consolidation of two Treasury Department bureaus: the Bureau of the Public Debt (BPD) and the Financial Management Service (FMS).

BPD financed government operations, accounted for the resulting public debt, and provided financial and administrative services to federal agencies. FMS supplied central payments and collections and deposit services for the federal government and prepared the financial statements of the federal government. By combining these responsibilities, the Bureau of the Fiscal Service transforms the way the federal government manages its financial services. The Fiscal Service delivers inter-agency administrative services with more efficiency, transparency, and accountability than ever before.

Issue:

A workshop software that is designed for those who need to use the process mapping, modeling, and simulation features for Six Sigma within the context of BPMN diagramming.

Scope of Work:

We analyzed our customer's specifications and recommended using iGrafx tools and licenses. iGrafx Process is the full-featured, easy-to-use process analysis and simulation tool designed to help organizations understand and improve their processes. iGrafx Process provides great functionality, discrete event simulation analytics and reporting, enabling dynamic "what-if" process analysis. iGrafx Process helps organize activities into their respective departments and highlights the hand-offs between them while capturing both the process diagram and the process data in an integrated environment. These and other features have redefined business process modeling and simulation and established an amazing benchmark in usability.

iGrafx Process for Six Sigma contains functionality for the Six Sigma practitioner including the ability to move data to and from MINITAB® for analysis. Six Sigma examples and case studies are used to demonstrate modeling and analysis techniques used by Six Sigma practitioners. Students learn to convert measured data into expressions used to refine a simulation model, to execute Rapid Design of Experiments, and to log transactions output from simulation to MINITAB for further analysis.

Conclusion:

Students learnt about Pools and Lanes (Departments), Messages, and more advanced behavioral information on flow objects, as well as using Events on boundaries for Exception handling. A detailed lab was applied to learning topics. The iGrafx applications provided special functionality for various types of diagrams. This topic provided information on how to use Cause and Effect, FMEA, Lean Value Stream Map, non-BPMN 'Process' diagrams, Prioritization Matrices and Sheets, and Organizational Chart type diagrams. Last but not the least, our customer was fully satisfied with our proposed platform and recommended our services in monthly testimonials.
